Some sects of Christianity, such as Roman Catholicism, embrace rationalism through teaching that God can be known by the use of human reason. Other sects, such as Eastern Orthodoxy, embrace mysticism by teaching that God is ultimately incomprehensible, and that we cannot trust our human reason and intellectual knowledge but must seek to achieve knowledge of God apart from logic and reason. While rationalist sects generally devote themselves to the idea of academic bible study, mystical sects generally engage in ceremonies that make faith something one does as opposed to something one studies.
