According to Vladimir Putin, Russia will seek payment in Rubles for gas sold to "unfriendly" countries. This change will require countries to have local Ruble accounts. Russia has already forced Poland and Bulgaria into this arrangement and plans to expand this to EU nations, where countries who fail to oblige will be cut off from Russian oil and gas supplies. This change is projected to drastically boost demand for the Russian Ruble, which will substantially regenerate the value of the currency amidst heavy sanctions on Russia.
